I've always wanted to ride the road in the title... ain't gonna try to spell it... I got to where I could pronounce it after the wife explained to me that the Spanish pronounce all the "Hey Vanna!" vowels...

OK, I WOULD NOT want to take that road the first time without a guide! I'd never make it outta Ft. Hunter Liggett!

TD and RedCat missed a great burger, but they had more important things to do. Watch where you put that toe from now on Redcat! GBG

Nice day ride, 290 miles and took 9 hours from home to back....

(Pic from Don VSP)

We met in Hollister at Micky D's and got off about 10 after 10...
Getttin' ready to saddle up....

KC Muir and daughter Laura, Cat and Jim, Cranky and of course our NORCAL tour director Don VSP showed up! The fog kinda worried us a bit but once we got south of Hollister... it got better. We dealt with hot and cold the intire day! I'm talking 15 deg swings at least!

I had to do a double take.. KC and Jim were laughing at something.. I'm sure I was zipped up... sigh...

We headed south and after the Pinnacles, Jim took off and after a while, KC did too... Don VSP, Cat and I like to cruze! I ain't in a hurry... I know where I'm headed and not in a hurry to get there!

We meet up with Jim, KC and Laura at our rest stop... I remember an outhouse here, but none to be seen... the next few miles, especially that bumpy road into King City was painful!

(From Dop VSP)

This is where I swore there was a rest room, sigh I was talking to Cat about her scoot... on the way out of Hollister, I looked at Cat's bike... and thought... where's the Nad???? She was on her BUBF...

Cat, Jim, Laura and KC...

KC wanted to get a pic of Laura on his scoot..... looks to me like she is trying to figure out how to start that thang! GBG

Nice Pic of Laura... Thanks for coming and NOT listening to dad!

(Pic from Don VSP)

Dad trying to get that great pic...

And here it is! That's a keeper KC! Frame it! GBG

We finally got the the restroom.... er gas station... There is KC looking fondly back at it with good memories!!! GBSEG!!! I did too! As you get older, one thing you don't pass is a chance to take a pit stop..... sigh

Just shooting amok...

So Ft Hunter Liggett has a huge awning for checking out vehicles... I'm shooting amok and the guy says... I'd like to see your paperwork... heck I thought it was a photo op!

Yup, they actually look, this guy said he only needed a credit card and pin to let us in... Don said Hey Cranky, this guy needs your credit card!! Of course, I gave it to him to get us by.... GBG

Them mountains is where we're headed! No pics in between, our hands were busy, very twisty road.. loose gravel... narrow road.. it was a nice view until on the down side.. and we went under the fog....

So we get to Busters in Callistoga.. whoops, wrong ride... We get to the Redwood Grill in Ferndale... and it was worth the trip... 'course eating lunch at 1430 well a soft shoe would taste great! GBG But it was a great place to stop and I know TD and RC would've loved to be here!

'course KC had to belly up to the bar!!! GBG He was getting soft drinks for Laura and hisself.

The place was rustic, I'm sorry you can't see that table in more detail.... It's gorgeous! A slice of a tree, smoothed, and coated, very nice. The food was great and the place was not crowded, service good, a little expensive but hey, look where you are! You're in the only place around for miles with FOOD!!! Hey Sherm, where were you!!!! GBG

I take pics like this so I know where I've been!!!

Yup, they had a store to buy goodies...

Getting ready to go, Don VSP having a smoke talking to KC and Laura...

I sense 2 are
abandoning ship! GBG The MAP is out.. no GPS... and yes, they are headed south! A great day with greaat friends, that's what it's about! Thank you Don VSP for the ride, and thanks to those that rode!

TD and RC, next time! Cranky
